Literatti - An Artistic Blog: Great Filipino Painters of All Time - Fernando Amorsolo

Painting Blog 04: LIMOS-SINING

This artwork is dedicated to the artists in the Philippines for such disheartening support our government gives us. Though we take different paths, some alone while some in packs, some in the brightest roads while some in the darkest tunnels, for people to hear us out, let us not forget the pride of our art. With or without listeners, let our voice grow in itself until the very day our countrymen see the real colors we mixed and prepared for them.

"Limos-Sining"
Painted by Erik Pingol
2' x 4' Acrylic on Canvas

This painting will be displayed at the GMA Network Program Support Department (PSD) 2011 Painting Exhibit around next week (exact date will be confirmed and updated here) along with works of other  fantastic Filipino artists.

500! Ahoo!

To some, reaching 500 views is not even worth the wow. I celebrated reaching my first 300, drew portraits of my supporters to thank them, promised the next batch the same when I reached 500, and in just a day I did. That's 200+ views for a single day. This made me smile, really. But to some, it's not a big deal. Some sites/blogs I know, average more than a thousand a day, that would make my "celebrations" look stupid. But that's okay with me. For me, knowing people read my stuff, leave messages when they can, and share my links for others to click, that means a lot. Thanks everyone. I hope I could do more interesting articles and artworks that could really convince me my blog is worth your time.

In the mean time, I'm posting here the splash I did for my facebook account. Sorry, this was for the first 300. For the next batch of followers, you have my word, I'll do yours the first time I get the chance.

Uh just a call to action, to my reader Mitchtriousgirl, let me know how can I get your picture. As of the moment I don't have twitter. Obviously, this is for my next drawing project. Thank you. I hope you get to read this.

Painting Blog 03: SPIDERMEN!

PAINTING BLOG #2 is actually the previous post --"Warming Up". It's where I shared how I restarted painting. And in my last words from that post I said my hands were white hot, yes indeed! Right away I produced these three 22" x 28" acrylic artworks, under the pop-art category, SPIDERMEN! Browse on guys, here is where painting and comics met!

SPIDER-MAN 22" x 28" Acrylic on Canvas

SPIDER-MAN BLACK 22" x 28" Acrylic on Canvas

SCARLET SPIDER 22" x 28" Acrylic on Canvas

After these works, I went on exploring different techniques in painting and also started doing comics again. Yes, comics! That means coming next are comic-related posts. Be there to read it. :-D

WARMING UP

Late 2010, I started dusting-off my "fine arts" self. Despite the semi-busy days at work, I tried to sneak in some time to paint. Maybe due to the thought that I liked to fight off stress from my professional world and open a brighter channel of myself with a new hobby. Actually, painting wasn't really new to me. Having studied fine arts in the University (though painting wasn't my major), I had a few fights with brushes and different painting media. But then again, those "fights" were like half a decade ago. An old retired soldier.

So it began. Bought some brushes again and a new set of oil painting stuff, I revisited my old canvas which I bought the previous year only to be kept above my cabinet. I began painting some landscapes, portraits and abstracts in oil. Some were wasted panels while some were stroked with pride. After around four medium-sized panels (which I considered my "first batch"), I finally won back the confidence I needed for my new fights.

The Real Kabalbalan Begins Here!

The official launch of Pilosopotassium blog is now!

I would like to thank everyone who clicked this blog. February 18, I launched the test pages of this web log and surprisingly, I reached an amount of 300+ visits, plus more than 10 followers. Thank you all guys. If only everyone who browsed my posts clicked on the "follow" button and had his/her face put on the follower thumbs, I could have thanked him/her a lot better. So for now, those who are visible in the followers' box will be rewarded by a personally (I did this!) drawn lineart portrait! Read on to see them. :-)
