Erik Katukomal is currently an Art Director in a top local network's Creative Services Department. He works on branding design development and promotional materials for TV programs.
In his academic years, he pursued Visual Communication under College of Fine Arts in the University of the Philippines. There he formed a group (with his artist colleagues) that promoted Filipino art in different ways. They named the group IDELUT. Some activities the team did during the early 2000, were art seminars for different High Schools in the Metro. The group also commissioned some murals for different institutions, one of which is very notable, the Tanghalang Ateneo, where twice they painted for two theatrical plays.
He has worked as an artist for more than 10 years now in different fields. He started working in print, then ventured into web graphics, gave art workshops, went back to print via package designing and now in multimedia through broadcast design and promotions. Aside from his regular job in the network, he is also a creative director in DAGTA Multimedia Group, his current team of visual artists specializing in multimedia projects. The group did AVPs, website designs, animated visual backgrounds for concerts and events and full campaign materials for different established companies and institutions.
In his own time, he paints, writes stories, illustrates comics and draws screenplay directions for some non-profit films and animations done by his group IDELUT. One of his personal campaigns in life is to promote love and awareness for one's native culture, as seen in most of his paintings and even in some contents of his comics and short stories. He also believes that sharing his views and teaching his knowledge in the field of visual arts to the next generation will somehow contribute in the bright future ahead for the Filipino people.
Here follows pages of his portfolio dated 2009 and earlier.
